Istanbul Visit from Acıpayam MYO Private Security and Protection Program Students
First- and second-year students of the Private Security and Protection Program of the Department of Property Protection and Security at Pamukkale University (PAU) Acıpayam Vocational School visited the Istanbul Securitas Company and the İGA Security Center in order to improve their professional knowledge and experience.
Within the scope of the technical trip organized to the İGA Security Center operating at Istanbul Airport under the coordination of Department Head Lecturer Dr. Aylin Arık and department lecturers Lecturer Dr. İkbal Vurucu, Lecturer Dr. İlknur Özdemir Çelik, and Lecturer Sinan Avan, the students were welcomed by İGA Security Coordinator Hüseyin Ağca and the management team. Throughout the program, students were provided with comprehensive information about airport security systems, civil aviation security practices, critical area protection methods, and advanced technological security devices used at the airport. During the approximately four-hour technical inspection tour, students had the opportunity to examine operational and critical security points within Istanbul Airport on site. They acquired practical knowledge regarding terminal security, passenger control processes, access control systems, and crisis management practices. At the end of the technical visit, İGA Security officials stated that support could be provided in employment processes for students graduating from the program, while important evaluations were also made regarding the development of sector–university cooperation. The technical trip received great appreciation as a productive organization that increased students’ professional awareness and contributed to their career planning.
In the second part of the technical trip, the students visited the Istanbul office of Securitas Security Services Company, one of Türkiye’s leading security firms. Acıpayam MYO had previously held meetings with the Denizli Directorate of Securitas, which employs 322 personnel in 44 different countries and is among the leading companies in the security sector in Türkiye with operations in 81 provinces and 11 regions, and had made plans for important collaborations. Within the scope of the technical trip attended by the company’s Vice President for Türkiye Mehmet Hanlıoğlu, students had the opportunity to obtain detailed information about the operating principles of the remote monitoring center, advanced security technologies used, and alarm monitoring systems. They also examined the operational processes carried out at the center on site. During the technical trip, in which the technological infrastructure of security services was explained practically, students were also provided with information and training regarding career planning in the security sector, the understanding of corporate security, the importance of technology in security services, and professional working discipline. In addition, students’ professional development was supported through the sharing of sectoral experiences, and theoretical knowledge was reinforced with field applications. Thanks to the technical trip, students were also enabled to gain professional vision by meeting with sector representatives, observe current security practices on site, and closely recognize technological developments in the field of private security.
