Glass Mosaic Logos Handed Over to Their Recipients
The logos of the Laodikeia, Tripolis, Stratonikeia, Attouda and Sillyon excavations, created by students during a glass mosaic workshop organised by the Pamukkale University (PAU) Cultural Heritage Conservation and Restoration Community, were exhibited in the foyer of the Rectorate building.
The Pamukkale University (PAU) Cultural Heritage Conservation and Restoration Community held a Glass Mosaic Workshop from 17 to 20 December 2025 as part of the Ministry of Youth and Sports’ ÜNİDES programme. Under the instruction of İnci Çatal, participating students learned both how to cut and work with glass and how to transfer a composition onto a wooden board. During four days of intensive work, the logos of various excavations conducted by Pamukkale University faculty members were created on panels. In the spring semester, the participating students continued working on the panels and completed them. As part of this workshop, the logos of the Laodikeia, Tripolis, Stratonikeia, Attouda and Sillyon excavations were produced using the glass mosaic technique.
The completed works were exhibited in the foyer of the Rectorate building on 21–22 May. After the necessary finishing touches were made, the panels were handed over to the excavation directors. The Stratonikeia and Lagina excavation panel was presented to excavation director Prof. Dr. Bilal Söğüt in front of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences; the Laodikeia panel was delivered to Prof. Dr. Celal Şimşek at the Laodikeia excavation house; the Tripolis panel was handed over to the excavation team at the Tripolis excavation house; the Attouda panel was presented to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bilge Yılmaz Kolancı in Hisarköy; and the Sillyon panel was delivered to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Murat Taşkıran at the Sillyon excavation house.
It was announced that the Glass Mosaic Workshop organised by the Pamukkale University (PAU) Cultural Heritage Conservation and Restoration Community would continue in future academic terms.
