First Participants of the “Digital Master” Project Are Honaz Vocational School Students
The first students of the “Digital Master” project, launched to enhance young people’s digital competencies and support SMEs in their e-commerce and e-export participation processes, were the students of Pamukkale University (PAU) Honaz Vocational School (VS).
The project, developed in cooperation with the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Türkiye (TOBB), Trendyol, and Habitat Association, aims to provide employment opportunities for students and digital empowerment for SMEs. Within the scope of the project, which will initially be piloted in Denizli, Balıkesir, Gaziantep, Nevşehir, and Ordu, a total of 3,000 young people, including 600 in Denizli, will receive basic e-commerce training, and 50 young people who succeed in the training will be guaranteed employment in exporting companies in Denizli.
Invited by the Department of Marketing and Advertising at Honaz Vocational School to introduce the “Digital Master” program, Trendyol Business Development Manager Nuri Erdoğan stated that the Certified E-Commerce Expertise Program is an important initiative for Denizli, which has a significant market share in e-commerce, noting that Denizli’s exports amounted to approximately 4.4 billion dollars in 2024. Nuri Erdoğan also explained the current scale of e-commerce, its position in Türkiye and the world, as well as the work carried out by Trendyol.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Meltem Öztürk, Head of the Department of Marketing and Advertising at Honaz Vocational School, stated that the e-commerce ecosystem has grown worldwide with the pandemic and emphasized that the Department of E-Commerce, established at Honaz Vocational School in 2024, aims to train qualified human resources needed by small- and large-scale companies in their e-commerce and e-export activities during their digitalization processes.
Dr. Lecturer Necla İrem İri, Director of Honaz Vocational School, expressed that it is a great advantage for students that the first participants of this project, which will contribute to strengthening local economies through digitalization, consist of Honaz Vocational School students. She congratulated the Department of E-Commerce and its faculty members for their efforts, wished the project preparing young people for the future success, and presented a plaque to Trendyol Business Development Manager Nuri Erdoğan for his contributions.
