Faculty of Communication Holds “Welcome” Gathering for New Students
Pamukkale University (PAU) Faculty of Communication Student Support Unit organized a welcome and introduction event for newly enrolled students on Wednesday, October 1, at Gölbahçe.
Aiming to become a tradition, this year’s second edition of the event brought together new students from the departments of Public Relations and Publicity, and New Media and Communication with the faculty’s academic staff.
“You will gain the essential skills needed in the 21st century”
Speaking at the event organized by the Student Support Unit, Dean of the Faculty of Communication and Head of the Department of Public Relations and Publicity, Prof. Dr. Ali Soylu, introduced the academic and administrative staff and provided information about the faculty. Prof. Dr. Soylu stated that the faculty’s academic staff consists of experts in their respective fields and that the faculty includes 20 academic and 8 administrative personnel. He continued:
“One of our main goals is to support your academic development and preparation for life as much as possible. I consider myself fortunate as a dean because we have highly valuable administrative staff and professors. We enjoy working closely together, and we value your close cooperation with us as well, because academic and personal development is crucial to meeting future expectations. Your professors work meticulously in this regard, and you will witness this firsthand in the coming period. Additionally, building a strong network is very important for you. With the contribution of our Student Support Unit, we aim to guide and assist you in every area you may need. I sincerely hope that when you graduate, you will have acquired the essential skills required by the 21st century. Moreover, Denizli is generally a city people love to visit and stay in. I hope our students coming from other cities will enjoy living here. In this sense, Denizli is considered one of Türkiye’s best student-friendly cities. Please don’t hesitate to share any requests or needs with us. I wish you a wonderful academic journey. Welcome to our university.”

Head of the Department of New Media and Communication, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Emel Dikbaş Torun, also addressed the students, saying, “We are very happy to meet with you,” and continued:
“Welcome to the Departments of New Media and Communication, and Public Relations and Publicity. Personally, I am delighted to see you all together in this pleasant atmosphere with such great participation. After a challenging process like the university entrance exam, you are now part of our family. Rest assured that you will have a very rewarding academic experience. We have dedicated professors and a strong administrative structure. I would like to emphasize that our faculty is among those with the highest student satisfaction rates in the university. This success is the result of mutual interaction and commitment. We function like a family and work diligently. Both our academic and administrative staff strive to do their best. You will experience an exciting and dynamic four years filled with activities, fun, and continuous learning. Additionally, we offer graduate programs. Students of the New Media and Communication Department may start with an optional English preparatory class and then continue in a highly practical program. Although we have some shortcomings, we are actively working to address them as soon as possible. Once again, welcome to you all.”
The event, where students also shared their thoughts and feelings, concluded with refreshments.
