09.04.2026
Oncology nurses working within Pamukkale University (PAU) Hospitals have implemented an exemplary initiative to raise awareness in the fight against cancer and emphasize the importance of early diagnosis. In this context, the Cancer Early Diagnosis, Education, and Counseling Team was established with the aim of providing society with access to accurate and up-to-date information.

Coordinated by Oncology Education Nurse Ayşegül Çimentepe, the team has started its activities aimed at increasing public awareness regarding cancer types, early diagnosis methods, and screening programs.

The administration of Pamukkale University Hospitals appreciated the dedicated work carried out by oncology nurses. Certificates of appreciation for their contributions to oncology and the valuable services they provide to society were presented to all oncology nurses by the Director of Nursing Services Demet Ekici.

The team also took an active role in an awareness event held on April 1, 2026. At the information stands set up during the event, participants were provided with comprehensive information about cancer types, early diagnosis methods, and screening programs.

At the event; Gülşen Paksu at the colon cancer stand, Aysun Akbey at the cervical cancer stand, and Fatmana Oytun at the breast cancer stand provided one-on-one counseling services.

The activities were not limited to the event. Informational brochures used across Türkiye were reviewed and updated in line with current information, and simpler, more understandable materials were prepared by the team. Thanks to these efforts, a large number of individuals were reached and directed to screening programs, significantly increasing public awareness of the importance of early diagnosis.
