Conference on “Detection of Neglect and Abuse in Elderly Individuals” Held at PAU

A conference titled “Detection of Neglect and Abuse in Elderly Individuals” was held by the Elderly Care Program of the Health Care Services Department within Pamukkale University (PAU) Denizli Health Services Vocational School (DSHMYO).

The organization was carried out by Head of the Elderly Care Program Dr. Öğr. Üyesi Selma Vuruşaner, Program Coordinator Lecturer Büşra Değirmenciler Eyiden, and Lecturer Şeref Duhan Altuğ. The conference was moderated by Lecturer Büşra Değirmenciler Eyiden.

 

The speaker of the event was Prof. Dr. Kemalettin Acar, a faculty member of the Department of Forensic Medicine at Pamukkale University Faculty of Medicine. The conference was attended with great interest by School Director Prof. Dr. Olcay Güngör, Vice Directors Dr. Öğr. Üyesi Deniz Koçyiğit Kaplan and Lecturer Dr. Hilal Parlak Sert, as well as faculty members and students of the Elderly Care Program and the Anesthesia Program.

 

In his presentation, Prof. Dr. Kemalettin Acar shared important information about the signs of neglect and abuse in elderly individuals, the forensic and ethical aspects that should be considered in the detection of such cases, and the responsibilities of healthcare professionals.

 

At the end of the conference, a certificate of appreciation was presented to Prof. Dr. Kemalettin Acar by School Director Prof. Dr. Olcay Güngör. The event concluded after a productive session aimed at increasing awareness in the field of elderly care.
