Cancer Awareness Training for Parents by PAU Hospitals Oncology Nurses
The Cancer Early Diagnosis, Education and Counseling Team operating within Pamukkale University (PAU) Hospitals continues its efforts to raise cancer awareness in society.
Within this scope, under the coordination of Prof. Dr. Ayşegül Koyuncu Okca, Head of the Handicrafts Department at Pamukkale University Denizli Technical Sciences Vocational School, and in cooperation with Hasan Veli Üğür Kindergarten affiliated with the Denizli Provincial Directorate of National Education, an informative event for school parents was held on April 7, 2026. Oncology nurses from Pamukkale University Hospitals also participated in the event in support, opening an information stand and contributing to cancer awareness through brochures.
Pamukkale University Vice Rector Prof. Dr. İbrahim Türkçüer attended the event and supported cancer awareness efforts. During the training coordinated by Oncology Education Nurse Ayşegül Çimentepe, parents were given comprehensive information about the importance of early diagnosis, common cancer types, risk factors, and screening programs. Participants’ questions were answered, and common misconceptions in society were clarified.
During the training process, Gülşen Paksu provided information on colon cancer, Aysun Akbey on cervical cancer, and Fatmana Oytun on breast cancer. While the importance of early diagnosis was emphasized in all presentations, participants were reminded of the necessity of regular screening and a healthy lifestyle. The event concluded with meaningful messages and content aimed at increasing cancer awareness in society and strengthening awareness of healthy living.
