Breast Cancer Awareness Activities by PAU Hospitals

Within the scope of Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, Pamukkale University (PAU) Hospitals organized various activities to raise public awareness and emphasize the importance of early diagnosis.

On October 6, a first in Türkiye, a breath therapy session was held for patients undergoing chemotherapy. This session contributed to the patients’ mental relaxation and provided moral support during their treatment. Positive feedback from patients and their relatives highlighted the value and appropriateness of this activity.

On October 10, the seminar titled “Be Aware, Notice, Empower Yourself!” focused on the importance of early diagnosis in breast cancer, screening methods, and risk factors, explained by experts. The seminar, which attracted great interest from participants, contributed significantly to awareness efforts with its informative content.

On October 13, a music recital themed “A Note for Hope” was held at the Selami Urhan Chemotherapy Unit for patients receiving treatment. The event, attended by patients, relatives, and healthcare workers, created emotional moments, demonstrating the healing power of music and providing a source of morale for the patients.

On October 17, an awareness stand was set up within the hospital, distributing brochures and informative materials about breast cancer. The stand, attended by Prof. Dr. Gamze Gököz Doğu, Head of the Department of Medical Oncology, and Associate Professor Dr. Sevda Yılmaz from the Department of General Surgery, provided guidance to patients and their relatives on topics such as self-examination of the breast. These activities, actively supported by healthcare staff, offered both morale and motivation while emphasizing informative content.
