At the event, to be held on Tuesday, October 27, in the Çivril district of Denizli, approximately 200 history students from five universities will come together on the very land where a great victory took place 850 years ago to attend a joint history class.

Organised under the coordination of Prof. Dr. Tülay Metin, Head of the Division of Medieval History in the Department of History at Pamukkale University Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, and faculty member Assoc. Prof. Dr. İbrahim Balık, this special programme will go beyond learning history solely from books and bring young historians face to face with the traces of the past.

Students from Pamukkale University, Afyon Kocatepe University, Kütahya Dumlupınar University, Aydın Adnan Menderes University, and Uşak University will participate in the event. The Battle of Myriokephalon, fought in 1176, in which Seljuk Sultan of Anatolia Kılıç Arslan II defeated the Byzantine Empire and which is regarded as a major turning point in the process of Anatolia becoming a Turkish homeland, will be examined from an academic perspective in the very geography where it took place. Following the joint class, which will begin at 11:00 a.m., students will visit historical and geographical sites in Çivril, offering them an opportunity to experience Anatolia's rich history firsthand.

Today, a new generation of history researchers is gathering on the land where history was made 850 years ago.

This gathering, organised under the leadership of Pamukkale University, will serve as an important example of strengthening historical awareness, passing cultural heritage on to younger generations, and promoting academic interaction among universities.
