13th Career Days Held at Honaz Vocational School

The “13th Career Days” event organized by Pamukkale University Honaz Vocational School was held on May 5–6 with strong participation from students, academics, and industry representatives. During the event, students had the opportunity to gain important insights into business life, career planning, personal development, and employment processes.

Held at the Hatice Gülşen Çetin Conference Hall of Honaz MYO, the program included talks and seminars on topics ranging from career planning to success in business life, interview processes, and the importance of emotional intelligence in professional life, all of which attracted strong student interest.

The first day of the program began with a graduate talk titled “There is a Job in This School.” In this session, alumni shared their career journeys, highlighting the contribution of vocational school education to professional life. This was followed by a panel titled “What Does the Business World Expect from Graduates?” featuring industry representatives, including TÜRMOB Denizli President and businessman Nuri Karakuş, DEGİAD President and businessman Kemal Sözkesen, and Pars Foreign Trade/Mersadoor Group Board Chairman Mehmet Salih Çelik. The panel focused on expectations of the business world, qualified workforce needs, communication skills, and students’ career development processes.

The final session of the first day featured Süper Lig referee Ümit Öztürk and FIFA assistant referee Murat Tuğberk Curbay, who met with students in a talk titled “An Inspiring Career Journey.” They emphasized discipline, determination, and self-confidence in career development and shared their professional experiences. After the talk, they presented the trophy and medals to the winning department of the Honaz MYO Spring Tournament.

On the second day of the event, seminars focusing on personal development and employment were held. In a seminar titled “Emotional Intelligence: The Invisible Power of Success in Business Life,” Lecturer Fulden Ekizler from the School of Foreign Languages discussed the role of empathy, communication, and emotional awareness in professional success.

Additionally, Şerife Özbay, Job and Career Specialist from the Denizli Provincial Directorate of İŞKUR, delivered a training seminar on workforce preparation processes. The session included practical information on effective LinkedIn use, CV preparation techniques, and job interview simulations.

Honaz MYO Director Dr. Necla İrem Ölmezoğlu İri stated that the 13th Career Days contributed significantly to students’ professional development and that such university-industry collaborations will continue in the coming years. The program, which attracted great interest from students, concluded with the presentation of certificates of appreciation and a group photo.
