Held at the PAU Hasan Kasapoğlu Cultural Center under the direction of Lecturer Dr. Çağatay Şişman, the orchestra presented a rich repertoire ranging from classical works of Western music to Anatolian folk songs, from the magical themes of cinema to the rhythm of tango. The performance of the orchestra, composed of undergraduate students from the Faculty of Education Department of Music Education, received great appreciation from the audience.
The most meaningful moment of the concert took place with the speech of Orchestra Conductor Lecturer Dr. Çağatay Şişman. In his speech, Şişman respectfully commemorated the children and the teacher who were injured and lost their lives in school attacks that took place in Şanlıurfa and Kahramanmaraş in recent weeks, and announced that the concert program was dedicated to them. Emphasizing that art and sports provide children with empathy, aesthetic perception, and a peaceful worldview, Şişman underlined the critical role of integrating education with art and sports in building a healthy society.
The most applauded moment of the evening, which left a smile on the faces of the audience, was when the young musicians took the stage. Two little friends, Alin and Nilüfer, accompanied the orchestra as percussion instruments using abacuses in their hands, receiving enthusiastic applause from the hall. This warm moment also aligned with Şişman’s message about children growing up with art.
At the end of the concert, Head of the Department of Music Education Prof. Dr. Ufuk Yağcı presented a plaque of appreciation on behalf of the Rectorate to Lecturer Dr. Çağatay Şişman. Yağcı congratulated all students and academic staff who contributed to the preparation of this meaningful night.
