Tourism Faculty Students Organize Technical Trip to Ephesus, House of the Virgin Mary, and Şirince
Pamukkale University (PAU) Faculty of Tourism’s Department of Tourism Management faculty member, Asst. Prof. Serap Alkaya, organized a technical trip to Ephesus, the House of the Virgin Mary, and Şirince with her students on November 4, as part of the Tour Planning and Implementation course.
As part of the Tour Planning and Implementation course, Asst. Prof. Serap Alkaya from Pamukkale University’s (PAU) Faculty of Tourism organized a technical trip to Ephesus, the House of the Virgin Mary, and Şirince for her students on November 4.
The trip provided students with the opportunity to practice the operational phase of the Tour Design process, focusing on skills such as time management, problem-solving, and communication. Accompanied by Ayşe Şimşek, a professional tour guide and graduate student in the Tourism Management Department, students toured the impressive structures of Ephesus, immersing themselves in the ancient world’s fascinating atmosphere. The Library of Celsus in Ephesus was one of the highlights of the visit, leaving a lasting impression on the students.
Afterward, students explored traditional village life in Şirince, famous for its historic stone houses, enjoying the village's streets and atmosphere.
Asst. Prof. Alkaya emphasized that the trip allowed students to dive deeper into history and gain valuable knowledge about the ancient period. She also noted that the students applied the operational processes they learned in class, working alongside a professional tour guide. The technical trip offered students a chance to appreciate the significance of history and discover diverse cultures.
