Pamukkale University (PAU) Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Kutluhan published a message on the occasion of "March 18 Çanakkale Victory and Martyrs Remembrance Day".

"Çanakkale is the place where our beloved nation, whose history is full of many glorious victories, wrote the epic of heroism after an unprecedented struggle in the world. Çanakkale is the name of the victory that saved our present, restored the heroism and greatness of the past, and made these lands our eternal homeland, in the words of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of our Republic, who defended his homeland at the cost of his life with an unshakable faith and martyred the sons of a nation united by destiny. This victory, which is a milestone and a turning point not only for us but also for the history of the world in terms of its results, is almost a 'foreword' of the victory achieved in the War of Independence; It is a document of how a nation, which was wanted to be erased from history, defended its homeland at the cost of its life despite all poverty and impossibilities.
On March 18, 1915, the seeds of brotherhood and the consciousness of being a homeland were sown in the land of the homeland with this epic written by saying 'Çanakkale is inviolable'. It is our nation's love for the homeland and its will to live independently that made Çanakkale inviolable. This desire is a legacy from our past and an exceptional trust that we will leave to future generations. Today, our beloved nation, acting in unity and solidarity with the awareness of the 'Spirit of Çanakkale', has the power to disrupt all kinds of dirty games that want to be played on our country today and in the future as in the past. Today, not only us, but the whole world knows that as long as Çanakkale Strait is in the hands of the Turkish nation, it cannot be crossed by war.

At the point we have reached today, in order to become one of the leading states in the world in many fields from industry to technology, from art to sports, from education to health under the leadership of science in this land, which we inherited from our ancestors, we inherited from our ancestors; perseverance, determination, faith, national and spiritual spirit is to work together shoulder to shoulder and work harder. Working harder to leave a prosperous country to our future generations is one of our responsibilities towards our ancestors and martyrs who made this paradise homeland a home for us.
On the 109th anniversary of the March 18 Çanakkale Victory, we have important responsibilities today in order to protect this sacred homeland lands entrusted to us with the blood and lives of our martyrs, to keep our flag flying freely in the skies, and to bequeath to our future generations the unity, solidarity, brotherhood and nationhood consciousness we received from our ancestors. Together with all members of Pamukkale University, we will continue to work tirelessly with determination. On the 109th anniversary of this glorious victory, I congratulate our nation's March 18 Çanakkale Victory and Martyrs' Remembrance Day with the most heartfelt feelings; I commemorate with respect, mercy and gratitude all our martyrs, especially Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and his comrades-in-arms, who entrusted this land to us as a sacred homeland. May their souls rest in peace and their places be in heaven."
