Rector Kutluhan Attends the Award Ceremony of the Running Race Organized within the scope of Youth Week Activities
Pamukkale University (PAU) Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Kutluhan gave awards to the winners of the running competition organized by PAU Faculty of Sports Sciences within the scope of Youth Week.
Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Kutluhan attended the award ceremony of “Road Run” organized within the scope of Sports Festivals. Rector Prof. Dr. Kutluhan gave the medals and awards to Meltem Demirkol Kocaalan, Gizem Demir and Arzu Kılınç, who ranked in the top three in the PAU Staff Women category; Nimet Aktaş, Abdulkadir Terlemez and Ömer Aygün, who ranked in the top three in the PAU Staff Men category. Büşra Akgün, Büşra Kazmacı and Sıla Köseoğlu, who ranked in the top three in the women's category, received their medals and awards from Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Necip Atar. İsmail Enes Sarıkaya, İsa Tan and Halit Sancak, who ranked in the men's category, received their medals and awards from Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Durmuş Akalın.
Speaking at the award ceremony, Rector Prof. Dr. Kutluhan said: “Our university organized many events and sports competitions for the Youth Week. Today there was a running race. There will be many competitions throughout this week. Our Faculty of Sports Sciences is one of the few Sports Sciences Faculties in Turkey, and our Sports Center is one of the few sports centers in Turkey.”
“We can say that another name of our campus is ‘Sports Campus’ because many events and sports activities are organized. Therefore, we are a university that attaches great importance to sports. As the Rectorate, we show all our support in this regard. These competitions are being organized for the first time. I think that today's run is a starting run. Hopefully, this running competition will be organized every year and become traditional. I wish that these competitions will be organized first at the Denizli level, then at the regional level and then at the national level. We have a structure that loves sports and we have a large number of staff who use the facilities of our Sports Center. On our campus, there are opportunities for individual sports in fourteen different branches such as swimming and running. We also have a student community and it works actively, which is a very good thing. I would like to thank the organizers, participants and competitors of the Youth Week events.”
