Number of Ancient Cities Excavated by PAU Increases to 9

Within the scope of the "Heritage to the Future" project initiated by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, at the launch meeting held by the Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy in the ancient city of Hierapolis last November; It was announced to the public that PAU Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Department of Archaeology and Head of Laodikeia Excavation Prof. Dr. Celal Şimşek was appointed as the Pamukkale-Hierapolis Excavation Coordinator, which is also included in the World Cultural Heritage List.
Following this appointment, Prof. Dr. Bilal Söğüt, Head of Stratonikeia and Lagina Excavations, Prof. Dr. Bilal Söğüt, Head of Stratonikeia and Lagina Excavations, was appointed as the coordinator of Labraunda excavations in Muğla-Milas, and Prof. Dr. Bahadır Duman, Head of Tripolis Excavations, was appointed as the coordinator of Aphrodisias excavations in Aydın-Karacasu, which is on the World Cultural Heritage List.
With the Heritage for the Future Project, the number of excavations carried out by the faculty members of the Department of Archaeology and History of Art of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of Pamukkale University has reached nine in total. Some of these sites are the most important cultural heritage of our country and the world, some of which are on the permanent World Cultural Heritage list and some of which are on the Temporary Cultural Heritage list.
