Number of Ancient Cities Excavated by PAU Increases to 9

Within the scope of the "Heritage to the Future" project initiated by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the number of excavations to be carried out in Turkey by the faculty members of the Department of Archaeology and History of Art of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (ITBF) of Pamukkale University (PAU) increased to nine.

Within the scope of the "Heritage to the Future" project initiated by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, at the launch meeting held by the Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy in the ancient city of Hierapolis last November; It was announced to the public that PAU Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Department of Archaeology and Head of Laodikeia Excavation Prof. Dr. Celal Şimşek was appointed as the Pamukkale-Hierapolis Excavation Coordinator, which is also included in the World Cultural Heritage List.

With the Heritage for the Future Project, the number of excavations carried out by the faculty members of the Department of Archaeology and History of Art of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of Pamukkale University has reached nine in total. Some of these sites are the most important cultural heritage of our country and the world, some of which are on the permanent World Cultural Heritage list and some of which are on the Temporary Cultural Heritage list.

Within the scope of the Heritage for the Future project carried out by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, it is aimed to spread the excavations carried out by foreign delegations in Turkey to 12 months, to excavate more areas, to make restorations and to transfer our cultural heritage to future generations.
