FEAS Students Made a Technical Trip to Sümerbank Nazilli Basma Factory Museum and Menderes Tekstil
Second-year students of the Department of Labor Economics and Industrial Relations at Pamukkale University (PAÜ) Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences (İİBF) paid a technical visit to Sümerbank Nazilli Basma Fabrikası Müzesi, one of Turkey's first social factory examples, and Menderes Tekstil.
The first stop of the technical tour organized within the scope of the Social Policy-II course, conducted by Prof. Dr. Çağla Ünlütürk Ulutaş, a faculty member of the Department of Labor Economics and Industrial Relations at Pamukkale University Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, was the Sümerbank Nazilli Print Factory Museum, one of the first examples of social factories in the Republic of Turkey. Administrative Officer Cemal Filikçioğlu provided the students touring the Sümerbank Factory with detailed information about the history of the Nazilli Basma Factory and the working conditions of the workers in the context of Turkey's Social Policy History.
Following this, the students met with faculty members and students from Adnan Menderes University's Department of Labor Economics and Industrial Relations at the Nazilli Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences Campus of Aydın Adnan Menderes University. The students were divided into mixed groups to brainstorm on social policies for youth and presented their demands through group leaders.
The second stop of the tour was a visit to the garment section of the Menderes Textile Factory. The students received information about the factory's production processes and participated in a meal hosted by Menderes Textile. It was also announced that the Human Resources Department of Menderes Textile would provide support for internships for the students.
