To commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Republic, DEKAMER integrated the Orkhon Inscriptions, which show that Turks have a strong state and social structure, with a turtle and turned it into a special monument. Prof. Dr. Ahmet Kutluhan and the DEKAMER team released eight turtles, whose treatment was completed, into the sea on the centennial of the Republic.

Director of the Sea Turtle Research, Rescue and Rehabilitation Center (DEKAMER) and Dean of Pamukkale University (PAU) Faculty of Science Prof. Dr. Yakup Kaska, AK Party Denizli MP Cahit Özkan, Pamukkale University Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Kutluhan, Ortaca District Governor Meral Uçar, Ortaca Mayor Alim Uzundemir, Muğla Provincial Gendarmerie Commander Brigadier General Ali Gemalmaz, Muğla Director of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Ömer Bolat and officials and local and foreign tourists attended the event.
The event started with Prof. Dr. Yakup Kaska's informative speech about the program. Prof. Dr. Kaska, who started his speech with the establishment phase of the center and his work in this center, then said, "There is a reason why we do these studies in front of the public every year. The healing process of an injured turtle is very important, and we expand our program from time to time by sharing this with the public."
In his speech, Rector Kutluhan stated that DEKAMER's work produces solutions to urban and environmental problems and expressed the importance of integrating with both nature and the sea as a university. Rector Prof. Dr. Kutluhan: "We were fortunate to see the August 26th Malazgirt Victory celebrated with this event. Because the fact that the Orkhon Monuments are on the back of a turtle and at the entrance resembles and reflects the entrance of Anatolia. The recovery of a turtle is like the recovery of a patient, it is like the realization of a birth. Every physician wants this to happen. This is a place where love for nature is instilled and sustainable animal love is created. Such a comprehensive center should continue for generations with our young people who are trained and educated. I would also like to thank my professors for their efforts in this regard."
