A Career Story on the Mountaintops

Pamukkale University (PAU) Acıpayam Vocational School Career Planning Course held its ninth interview within the scope of Sector Meetings.

Acıpayam Vocational School, which aims to bring its students together with different guests, graduates working in various fields and topics that will give vision, hosted a name that allows students to open a different window in their career journey this week. Researcher-Writer and President of Denizli Nature Lovers Association Ümit Şıracı gave an interview that many students and academicians listened with interest.

Ümit Şıracı, who was born in Çal district of Denizli and attracted attention with his multi-faceted career journey as well as being an AFAD employee, told the students how to relate profession and hobbies with examples from his own life story. In addition to working as a search and rescue technician, Şıracı, who is also a professional mountaineer, history researcher, document and nature photographer, manager of various associations and diving instructor, gave information to the students about how all these interests turned into professional equipment. He emphasized that nature walks are more enjoyable when they are supported with information such as history, geography and local culture. In this sense, he stated that it is very important to travel and see, read books and research. He underlined that chatting with the local people on the trekking routes and learning the stories about this region make the nature walks more meaningful. After the question and answer session, Acıpayam Vocational School Director Lecturer Senem Tüfekçi presented a Certificate of Appreciation to the speaker Ümit Şıracı and the event ended.
