22.10.2026
Digitised copies of 707 original manuscripts in the Yatağan Madrasa Manuscript Collection, held at the Pamukkale University (PAU) Institute of Islamic Sciences Library, have been made available online through the website of the Turkish Manuscripts Institution (TÜYEK), at “yek.gov.tr”, following joint efforts by TÜYEK and the Institute of Islamic Sciences Library.

The collection consists of works that have survived from the area surrounding the Grand Madrasa (Upper Madrasa), founded by Koca Hacı Mustafa Efendi in the early 1770s in Yatağan, in the Serinhisar district of Denizli. It was assembled through the efforts of Prof. Dr. Mustafa Cevat Akşit, who brought together manuscripts preserved by families in their homes, mosques, and the vicinity of the former madrasa.

Serving as an important resource for both Yatağan's scholarly history and Ottoman madrasa culture, the collection includes works written between the 12th and 20th centuries in fields such as Quranic sciences, tafsir, hadith, Islamic jurisprudence (fiqh), Sufism, the life of the Prophet Muhammad (siyar), Islamic theology (kalam), ethics, logic, Arabic language and literature, Islamic history, preaching, prayers, arithmetic, and astronomy.

Detailed information about the manuscripts is available on the websites of the Institute of Islamic Sciences Library and TÜYEK.
