Pamukkale University (PAU) Rector Prof. Dr. Mahmud Güngör attended the “Career Talks” event organized by the Faculty of Law.

At the event held in the Conference Hall of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences Block B, Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Altaş and the President of the Denizli Industrialists and Businessmen Association, Attorney Nuri Turgut, offered various recommendations on topics such as their life experiences, sources of motivation, and how students can shape their own professional lives.

Rector Güngör: “Legal knowledge makes you strong, but a sense of justice makes you valuable and trustworthy”

Speaking at the event, Pamukkale University Rector Prof. Dr. Mahmud Güngör stated: “Law is not a set of rules confined to texts. Law is the voice of a nation’s conscience. The scales of justice are seen as being established in courtrooms; however, the real balance grows in the human heart, and it begins in the heart. For this reason, I believe that legal education is a journey that builds not only interest but also character, responsibility, conscience, and moral depth. At Pamukkale University, courses aim to prepare our students for life while ensuring they are equipped with virtue as well as knowledge. Because a strong future rises on the shoulders of individuals whose sense of justice is deeply rooted. A generation guided by the light of knowledge and directed by conscience is the greatest assurance of this country. This meeting, which we gather under the title of career talks, offers an opportunity where experience turns into words and words touch hearts. Real-life stories distilled from life sometimes have an impact beyond years of theoretical accumulation. In this respect, this meeting is a strong step that broadens and strengthens the horizons of our young people. Law is not only about seeking rights but about upholding them. It derives its power from law, but its direction is determined by conscience. When this balance is maintained, society finds peace; when it is disrupted, the deepest wounds emerge. Therefore, a legal professional must be a person aware of their responsibility and able to shoulder the burden of justice properly. Each of you should become a light that shapes this country’s vision of justice. While equipping yourselves with knowledge, you should not neglect your heart. Because legal knowledge makes you strong, but a sense of justice makes you valuable and trustworthy. Your conscience should be your most reliable guide throughout life. When a legal understanding rooted in the wisdom and heritage of this land meets universal principles, it transforms into true strength. A generation that can establish this balance will build a language of justice that guides both its own society and humanity.”

In his presentation, Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Altaş shared experiences from cases he encountered in his legal career, how professional success is based on certain foundations, and the important role of family life in climbing the steps of success.

The President of the Denizli Industrialists and Businessmen Association, Attorney Nuri Turgut, while providing information about business life, emphasized that the factor of luck always requires being prepared in life, and offered students advice on how to progress in their career journeys.

The event concluded with an interactive Q&A session. Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Altaş received a gift from former Minister of Justice Bilal Uçar, while Attorney Nuri Turgut received his gift from the Dean of the Faculty of Law, Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Aliyar Demirci.
