PAU Breaks Boundaries in Internationalization

05.08.2025
According to the 2025 Erasmus+ project results, Pamukkale University (PAU) has achieved a significant success in the field of internationalization. With its rankings in both the Erasmus+ KA131 project, which includes student and staff mobility with European Union (EU) countries, and the Erasmus+ KA171 program, which covers exchange programs with non-EU countries, PAU has achieved a strong rise on the international stage.

In 2024, PAU ranked 14th in Türkiye within the scope of Erasmus+ KA131 projects, and this year it moved up one place to 13th. The real leap, however, took place in the Erasmus+ KA171 category. The university, which was ranked 38th last year, rose to 12th place as of 2025, achieving a remarkable success.

Rector Güngör: “This success is a concrete indicator of our University’s goal to become more visible on global academic platforms”

Pamukkale University Rector Prof. Dr. Mahmud Güngör expressed the vision behind these achievements with the following words: “Our internationalization strategy is not limited to the European Union; we act with a multidimensional and inclusive vision that encompasses the entire world. We are now demonstrating the consistent success we have shown in Erasmus+ KA131 also in KA171. This is a concrete indicator of our University’s goal to become more visible on global academic platforms.”

The holistic internationalization policy carried out under the leadership of Rector Prof. Dr. Güngör is shaped around student- and staff-oriented approaches, multicultural academic collaborations, and long-term sustainable partnerships. In recent months, PAU has signed numerous department-based international agreements, establishing an effective academic network not only in Europe but also across a wide geography including Asia, Africa, Latin America, and the Middle East. This success demonstrates that Pamukkale University is progressing steadily on its path to becoming an international actor not only at the academic level, but also on humanitarian, cultural, and strategic levels.
