International Achievement by PAÜ Faculty Members
An academic study co-authored by Prof. Dr. Şaban Nazlıoğlu, faculty member of the International Trade and Finance Department at Pamukkale University (PAÜ) and member of the Turkish Academy of Sciences, together with Dr. Öğr. Üyesi Çağın Karul from the Econometrics Department, has achieved international recognition.
The article titled “Smooth Structural Changes and Common Factors in Nonstationary Panel Data: An Analysis of Healthcare Expenditures,” published in Econometric Reviews—one of the most prestigious journals in the field of econometrics—became the most cited study in the journal over the last three years.
In this study, new econometric tests were developed that allow for a more realistic modeling of structural changes in economic data, and the long-term dynamics of healthcare expenditures were analyzed using this novel approach. The research gained significant academic attention due to both its methodological contribution to panel data analysis and its innovative perspectives on the sustainability of health policies.
