A “Disaster Awareness Training” was organized for the academic and administrative staff of Pamukkale University (PAU) Honaz Vocational School (Honaz VS).

The training, held at Honaz Vocational School on March 24 by the Denizli Provincial Disaster and Emergency Directorate (AFAD), aimed to ensure that staff are prepared and aware of disaster situations and, in line with the “Disaster-Ready School” objectives, to raise awareness among institutional personnel about appropriate behaviors before, during, and after disasters. During the training, AFAD Denizli representatives provided participants with information on disaster types frequently encountered in Türkiye, especially earthquakes, as well as correct actions during disasters, evacuation, and rescue procedures.

Within the scope of the Occupational Health and Safety Law No. 6331, employees were informed about emergencies, and the mandatory drill, which must be conducted at least once a year, was carried out. Following the theoretical training, academic and administrative staff who participated in the fire drill held in the schoolyard had the opportunity to practically experience the use of fire extinguishers.

Honaz Vocational School Director Assistant Professor Necla İrem İri stated that the training, which emphasized the importance of individual and institutional preparedness for disasters, was highly productive and presented certificates of appreciation to AFAD officials.
