The retirement ceremony took place with the participation of academics, students, and guests. The program began with the reading of Prof. Dr. Mehmet Ali Ünal’s biography and a video presentation featuring highlights from his academic journey and life. During the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Ünal’s academic career and publications were commemorated, and his students and colleagues delivered heartfelt speeches.

The event, enriched with a musical performance, also featured the presentation of a tribute book prepared by his students and edited by Prof. Dr. Nurgül Bozkurt, Prof. Dr. Osman Köse, and Prof. Dr. Zafer Gölen, titled In Cherished Memories: Prof. Dr. Mehmet Ali Ünal – A Tribute to a Historian. The editors also extended their gratitude to the Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Dr. Yasemin Beyazıt, for her contributions to the publication of the book and her support in organizing the ceremony.

During the ceremony, President of the Turkish Historical Society, Prof. Dr. Yüksel Özgen, sent a message expressing his appreciation to Prof. Dr. Ünal for his valuable contributions. Following this, the Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Prof. Dr. Yasemin Beyazıt, and Head of the Department of History, Prof. Dr. Umut Karabulut, conveyed their respect and admiration for Prof. Dr. Ünal’s dedication and contributions throughout his academic and personal life.

The program concluded with remarks by Prof. Dr. Mehmet Ali Ünal and the presentation of various gifts by the Dean, Prof. Dr. Yasemin Beyazıt, and faculty members of the Department of History — serving as a heartfelt expression of respect for Prof. Dr. Ünal’s lifelong devotion to science and education.
